On November 24, 2016, the 5th annual LNG Producer-Consumer Conference 2016 will be held, hosted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Asia Pacific Energy Research Centre (APERC).
Continuing the conversation from the 4th annual conference, held in September 2015, and along with the participation of ministerial officials representing major countries producing and consuming the liquefied natural gas (LNG) as well as Japanese and foreign corporate leaders playing in the LNG market, this conference endeavors to share the latest trends in the global LNG market as it facilitates discussion of various issues and challenges facing the creation of a stable, competitive and flexible global LNG market.
These years the environment surrounding LNG has changed drastically, particularly in the Asia Pacific region, and the LNG transaction is thus expected to still grow in the future.
This conference has been held every year since 2012 as a platform with the purpose of sharing a long-term LNG demand and supply outlook and developing cooperation between producing and consuming countries towards creating a transparent transaction market. Past conferences have been attended by more than one thousand participants including individuals at ministerial level from more than fifty countries around the World, to actively discuss the challenges faced by the LNG market and actions to be taken by both producers and consumers in order to create a transparent and sustainable market.
The LNG Producer-Consumer Conference 2016 will be held, considering the significance of ongoing changes in the LNG market and the importance of ensuring the future development of the market. This conference is intended to allow us, after having shared our knowledge about the latest trends observed among LNG producers and consumers, to deepen the discussion towards a stable, competitive and flexible global LNG market.
